“FROM LARGE TO SMALL……Place-Time Sequence”
FEATURING 40 PAINTINGS, DRAWINGS, AND PRINTS
The exhibit continues from April 4th to May 1st.
OPENING RECEPTION: FRIDAY, APRIL 4th 5-8 PM
THE THEME: Through the years I have been struck by how my images are directly influenced by the place and time. We take our experiences everywhere we go. My exterior and interior spaces, (even in a moving car), are spaces which carry different experiences that require shifts between drawing, painting or printmaking. They guide even the size of these pieces which range from 6 foot images to 5.5 inches. All of It becomes the wellspring for the marks we make. There is never a barren moment.
The first Friday of the month is “Gallery Night” in Ithaca. All galleries opened to the public showing diverse work from the Art Community. It was a great reception in a truly wonderful and spacious venue covering a large selection of my work on two floors. Upstairs from the CSMA is the INK SHOP, which was showing student printmakers from Cornell University and Ithaca College along with a “Bread and Puppet” show.
Lots of activity going on in a dynamic and exiting environment. Below are samples of some of the work on view.

STUDIO DIALOGUE I. Monotype 24”x18” GUILIANI
The docents from the Cape Cod Museum of Art are featuring 274 women artists in their Permanent Collection. This is significant because women have been historically under -represented in museum collections throughout the world. The CCMoA Docents have researched and written wall texts to accompany each piece celebrating the artistic merits of regionally significant women artists in the collection and describing intent and techniques.
OPENING RECEPTION: THURSDAY, MARCH 6 th 4-6:30.
This piece, was painted from direct observation in my studio using Handschy lithographic inks, brushes and rollers on a plexiglass plate. After the painting was completed, it was placed on the bed of my printing press. Arches 88 printmaking paper was placed over the painting and, with the pressure of the press, the image was transferred from the plate to the paper. The process has roots in the Renaissance and was used by early 20th century artists like Degas and Monet to name a few. This print after some 20 years, remains as fresh as the day it was pulled. Only one image is made. The monotype is a “one of a kind unique print”. My technique was to paint the interior of my studio as is, without pre-arranging and was the first of many “Happenstances” to follow.
