For me, there is an exciting diversity and design in the common or

mundane aspects of daily life. There is visual stimuli everywhere.

My art starts as a response to an experienced space.

I am inspired by architectural structures, billboards, or road signs

juxtaposed against surprising sunsets or pristine forms found in Nature.

In my frequent travels on roads through Cape Cod, New York and

Florida, I am constantly inspired and amazed by this diversity and

the “stuff of life itself”...The light, color and texture.

The source for my imagery can be found in these unique spaces

experienced and then internalized or re-structured.

Since I see a unique design everywhere, the joy is in sharing

the vision and synthesizing thoughts and feelings. The magic of art is

in its re-organization of space, and the interplay of materials and process.

All is in a state of growth or transformation…Like Nature itself.

For me there is a kind of poetic truth to a successful work of art.

The image is “true” and “meaningful” because it speaks

 in a universal language.

My goal is to re-structure this diversity and to organize my images

into something that makes the viewer see something for the first time…

then to invite him to internalize and interpret for himself.

This point of view was further expanded when coupled with the

print-making process itself. The Monotype or Unique Print is still

my passion but also the Intaglio and Lithographic process as well.

I am caught up in the idea of “chance and of “process” and of

the nature of materials that is so exciting that I have never looked back.

My latest work seeks to achieve a kind of synthesis of interior

and exterior spaces:

Images of life en-meshed with painting

and a multitude of

materials and techniques.

This approach has spawned a kind of inward

response that is

an abstraction...largely intuitive, gestural and

expressive.
